Hip Tricks: Beginner Belly Dance

Fall in love with your body and your movement. Throughout this series, you’ll learn foundational belly dance movements like hip lifts, shimmies, figure 8’s, and undulations. We’ll also explore fun accents like belly rolls and I’ll share useful tips for hypnotizing an audience with great snake arms. Lessons on Arabic music and Raqs Sharqi history will be sprinkled into each lesson.

Each evening includes a gentle warm-up, dancer conditioning, step-by-step instruction, a cultural lesson, and a dancing warm-down.

This class is a safe place to play, explore, and try new dance ideas. It’s welcoming to beginner and experienced dancers alike. Please wear comfortable yoga or dance attire and leave your shoes at the door.

All ages, body shapes, ability levels, and gender expressions are welcome.
